June Race Announcement

Bike Zone Tri Dash Bangkok 2020 Series

June Race Announcement

In anticipation of Thailand’s easing of coronavirus restrictions entering phase 4 in the near future, we have decided to start planning for the return of the Bikezone Tri Dash Bangkok on the originally scheduled date of 28 June 2020. In case that phase 4 only starts on or after 1 July 2020 the alternative date for the event will be 12 July 2020.

While at this point we cannot guarantee the event being held on the original or alternative date we recognize that there is a deep desire by athletes to go back racing as soon as possible. Registration for the event which will be raced in the traditional single format of 400m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run is open now. Entry is limited to 124 athletes with 50 already registered. Should the event be postponed to 12 July the entry fee will be automatically transferred to that date. If by 12 July restrictions haven’t been lifted, all registered athletes will have the chance to transfer their entry to later in the year or to a race of the 2021 season.

In order to facilitate a safe racing environment we have come up with the following distancing and hygiene rules:

  • 124 maximum number of athletes
  • No non-competing companions/family/friends allowed at the event
  • All athletes must wear face masks as they arrive, while at bike racks pre-race and at the swimming pool
  • All staff must wear masks and face shield at all times
  • Print out and sign a waiver at home and drop and the entrance when entering the transition area
  • Race packs will be prepared for athletes at bike racks incl. medal (where applicable), post-race snack, etc.
  • Nobody marking, athletes will have a small card with their race number to bring to the pool for identification before the swim start
  • Bikes are racked every 1.50m
  • Athletes line up around the pool with 1.50m distance prior to their start wearing face masks. Masks can be dropped in a bin at the swim start
  • Zigzag swimming in the pool starting in lane 8 and exiting in lane 1
  • Swim start every 15 sec for the elites, then every 25 sec after that. Fastest swimmers go first.
  • Bike course as usual
  • 1 big run loop running the outer lane of the bike course in an anti-clockwise direction
  • No aid station on the run course, athletes must carry their own water on the run
  • Single-use mask handed out at the finish line for athletes to wear until they leave the venue
  • Athletes take off timing chip themselves and drop-in bin
  • Athletes are encouraged to immediately leave the venue after completing their race
  • No awards presentation, no lucky draw, awards will be post mailed
